My Toastmasters Journey
When I first joined Jauhari Bilingual Toastmasters Club back in 2018, my only intention was to participate in speech contests. I’ve always loved competing. Initially, I had no plans to take on any leadership roles. However, with much encouragement from my club leaders and my husband, I stepped out of my comfort zone and embraced the challenge.
I began by taking on leadership roles at the club level and gradually progressed to serving at the area and division levels. In term 2020/2021, as Club President of Jauhari Bilingual Toastmasters Club, we managed to end the term as a President's Distinguished Club. And last term, I had the honor of serving as 10th and final Division E Director, due to the district alignment to the new divisions.
To cap it all off, Division E became a President's Distinguished Division. Thanks to the dedication and hard work of my Division Council and Club Officers, we are proud to be the first English division in District 80 to achieve this prestigious status in 2025. Adding to the celebration, our Division E Champion for the International Speech Contest was also crowned as
District 80's International Speech Champion at Annual Conference 2025. A truly meaningful and memorable way to bring Division E’s journey as well as mine, to a close.
This term 2025/2026, I embarked on my journey as District 80's Club Extension Chair. This is where I assist the Club Growth Director in chartering new clubs and planning demo meetings for prospective new clubs. I has been a fruitful and eye opening journey thus far. Thus far, this experience give me a good sensing and better insights, as I contest for the office of the District 80's Club Growth Director for term 2026/2027. Looking forward to continue to contribute to the district and the Toastmasters movement in Singapore.

Nominated Candidate for CGD 2026/2027
This term my Toastmasters journey has brought me to be District 80's “Nominated Candidate for Club Growth Director (CGD)” for the term 2026/2027. This role oversees Toastmasters growth in Singapore (District 80). The role encompasses chartering new Toastmasters clubs, as well as membership management for the more than 4000 Toastmasters members in Singapore.
Stepping into this nomination is both a humbling milestone and a call to serve at a higher level. Over the years, I have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand how Toastmasters transforms individuals—building confidence, sharpening communication, and nurturing leadership. These experiences have shaped my belief that growth is not merely about numbers, but about creating meaningful, sustainable impact within every club and every member’s journey.
In the current term, serving as District 80’s Club Extension Chair has given me strong, practical insight into the realities and challenges that the Club Growth Director will have to face. From engaging prospective corporate partners, to navigating the complexities of chartering new clubs, and ensuring continuity after charter strength. These experiences have provided me with a deeper understanding of what it truly takes to build and sustain growth across the district.
If elected, my focus as Club Growth Director will be anchored on three key pillars. First, sustainable club growth, by ensuring that new clubs are not only chartered successfully but are supported with strong foundations to thrive beyond their initial stages. Second, member experience and retention, by working closely with clubs to create engaging, high-quality meetings that inspire members to stay, grow, and take on leadership roles. Third, strategic partnerships and outreach, by expanding Toastmasters’ presence in corporate organizations, educational institutions, and communities to bring the Toastmasters experience to more people across Singapore.
This nomination is not just about a position; it is about a commitment to serve, to listen, and to lead with purpose. I look forward to the journey ahead, and to the opportunity to contribute to a stronger, more vibrant District 80.
