Past Programs & Events
These are the programs and events I have organized or led over the years, ranging from the club level to the division and district levels. As Division E Director, my focus was on implementing initiatives that addressed training gaps and provided meaningful, skill-enhancing experiences for the Toastmasters in my division.
'Perjumpaan Gabungan Tiga Negara' (Chapter Meeting Collaboration of Three Countries)
Level: District/International
Role: Organising Chair
Date: Feb 2021
When Covid-19 struck, Toastmasters had to swiftly transition our Chapter Meetings online. As Club President at the time, it was a period filled with uncertainty as we navigated how to continue our activities amid the pandemic. Despite the challenges, we embraced the situation and focused on making the best of it.
On 21st February 2021, an extraordinary chapter meeting titled "Perjumpaan Gabungan Tiga Negara" brought together Toastmasters from three nations—Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore—in a vibrant showcase of cross-border camaraderie, learning, and leadership. Hosted virtually to overcome geographical boundaries, the event celebrated the shared values that unite the Toastmasters community.

I had the honour of serving as the Organising Chair, collaborating with Kelab Pidato Kuala Lumpur from District 51, Malaysia, and Club Tmbahasa87 from District 87, Indonesia, to bring this tri-nation chapter meeting to life. We turned the limitations of Covid-19 into an opportunity to connect virtually across borders.
More than 60 Toastmasters from the three nations gathered for an afternoon filled with inspiring speeches, insightful evaluations, and heartwarming connections. I led the effort in preparing the programme sheet and coordinating our contributions to the event. We nominated two members to deliver prepared speeches in Malay, alongside an evaluator, and another member took on the role of Table Topics Master.
The meeting featured a stellar lineup, with Jauhari members delivering thought-provoking speeches and evaluations that reflected our club’s spirit. Table Topics added a spontaneous, engaging touch that celebrated diverse perspectives. Perjumpaan Gabungan Tiga Negara was more than just a regular meeting—it was a powerful testament to unity, diversity, and the resilient Toastmasters spirit. Participants left feeling inspired, connected, and excited for future cross-border collaborations.

D80 Toastmasters Hari Raya e-Open House 2021

Level: District
Role: Organising Chair
Date: May 2021
Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, in the true spirit of Silaturrahim (kinship) and cultural celebration, Toastmasters from across clubs and divisions came together for District 80’s Hari Raya e-Open House 2021—a heartwarming online gathering filled with joy, laughter, and connection. Held on 23rd May 2021, the event united members, guests, and friends of Toastmasters to celebrate the end of Ramadan and the joyous occasion of Eid, all from the comfort of their homes. Though virtual, the event radiated festive cheer, community spirit, and the unmistakable Toastmasters energy.
I had the honour of serving as the Organising Chair for this special celebration. I led the planning of games and activities, creating a lively and engaging experience for all. We were privileged to have past district leaders join us, sharing warm Hari Raya greetings and inspiring messages for our fellow Toastmasters. Together with my EXCO team and the then Division E Director, we worked behind the scenes on the audio and virtual setup. It was a truly memorable event—fun-filled, heartwarming, and full of laughter.

Jauhari Bootcamp Trainings
Level: Club
Role: Contest Coach
Date: 2023 to Present
Every year, my home club, Jauhari Bilingual Toastmasters Club, conducts a ‘Bootcamp’ for members who are competing in the club contest. Leveraging my experience in speech contests, the club engages me as one of the Contest Coaches for the Bootcamp. These sessions are designed to prepare and polish contestants ahead of their club-level competitions. As one of the club’s contest coaches, I thoroughly enjoy conducting these training sessions.

I work closely with each contestant—reviewing their speech scripts, providing detailed feedback, and offering recommendations to refine their content before the contest. These sessions focus not only on speechwriting but also on enhancing delivery, structure, and overall impact.

For those who advance to the Area and Division levels, I provide additional coaching to sharpen their performance. These sessions include work on vocal variety, stage presence, effective use of gestures and body language, and fine-tuning speech delivery. Depending on availability and convenience, the coaching is conducted both online and in person.

This initiative is part of the club’s broader effort to support and equip our contestants for success beyond the club level. Since implementing this approach, I’m proud to share that several of my coachees have gone on to be placed at the Division Contest level.

Division E e-Learning Series (3-Part Series)
Level: Division
Role: Event Series Organiser & Advisor
Date: Between Aug 2024 to Nov 2024
In an effort to provide convenient and enriching learning opportunities for our members, I envisioned a series of online programs that Division E members could attend from the comfort of their homes in the evenings. These sessions were designed to sharpen key Toastmasters skills such as speechwriting, delivering effective evaluations, and mastering impromptu speaking. Blessed with a dedicated and capable team in my Division Council, we were able to bring this vision to life.

As part of our continued commitment to learning and member development, Division E proudly launched the E-Learning Series—a focused and impactful initiative aimed at strengthening the core communication skills of Toastmasters across the division. The series centered on three essential areas: How to Write a Speech, Elements of Evaluations, and The Art of Impromptu Speaking—each vital to becoming a confident and competent communicator and leader.

The sessions were conducted virtually over several evenings, with each module carefully crafted to offer a blend of theoretical insight and practical application. Attendance ranged from 12 to 25 participants per session, and each session featured engaging discussions, interactive elements, and active participation from members eager to grow.

Session 1: How to Write a Speech
This session guided members through the speech crafting process—from idea generation to structure, storytelling, and impactful delivery. Attendees learned how to identify their speech purpose, tailor content to their audience, and use rhetorical devices effectively. The speaker also shared helpful templates and tips for overcoming writer’s block and turning personal experiences into powerful speeches.
Session 2: Elements of Evaluations
In this module, participants explored the key components of a constructive and encouraging evaluation. The session emphasized the importance of active listening, objective analysis, and delivering feedback that uplifts and empowers speakers to grow. Through live demonstrations and role-play, members practiced structuring evaluations using the commend-recommend-commend model and learned how to provide specific, actionable recommendations.
Session 3: The Art of Impromptu Speaking
Focusing on one of the most thrilling and challenging aspects of Toastmasters—Table Topics—this session equipped members with techniques to think on their feet and speak with clarity and confidence. Strategies such as the PREP method, bridging, and reframing were introduced, along with opportunities for participants to try their hand at impromptu responses in a safe and supportive setting.

Contest Management & Judges Training
(in collaboration with District 80)
Level: District
Role: Organising Chair & Trainer
Date: Oct 2024
Over the years, in my journey as a Division and Club Officer, I observed a recurring gap in training—specifically in the area of contest management at the club and area levels. Area Directors, Club Presidents, and Vice Presidents Education (VPEs) are expected to organise and run contests smoothly, yet there is often no formal training provided. Many are left to self-learn, rely on informal guidance from senior Toastmasters, or figure things out on their own.
Recognising this need, I initiated a Contest Management Training session aimed at equipping club and division officers with the best practices for planning and conducting Toastmasters contests. The training covered essential procedures, including a detailed pre-contest preparation checklist (such as necessary forms and requirements), contest-day operations, and post-contest document submissions.
In the spirit of excellence, integrity, and collaboration, Division E proudly partnered with the District 80 Program Quality Team to deliver a comprehensive Contest Management & Judges Workshop. This initiative was designed to empower contest officials, club leaders, and aspiring Toastmasters with the skills and confidence to run contests with professionalism, efficiency, and fairness.
More than just a technical session, this collaborative training reinforced a shared vision—to uphold the values of healthy competition, continuous learning, and leadership in action. It was truly an honour for me to serve as one of the trainers, alongside some of the most respected and experienced leaders in the district.
The workshop was well-received, with an interactive and engaging atmosphere and an estimated attendance of 70 to 90 participants. Following the session, many attendees reached out personally with further contest-related questions, demonstrating a genuine eagerness to learn and apply the knowledge shared.
What was most rewarding, however, came months later—when several club and division officers shared that they were actively using the guide and checklists I had provided to prepare for their own contests. Knowing that this initiative made a lasting, practical impact has been one of the most fulfilling outcomes of my term.

Club Officers' Training (COT2) - Collaboration between Div E & Div B

Level: Cross-Division
Role: Co-Chair & Trainer
Date: Jan 2025
On 11 January 2025, Division E collaborated with Division B to successfully organise the Club Officer Training (COT2) 2025 at the Devan Nair Institute, bringing together club leaders from both divisions for a dynamic day of leadership development, knowledge-sharing, and community building.
As the Co-Chair and one of the trainers for COT2, I worked closely with the organising team to curate a programme that was relevant, practical, and impactful for the attending club officers. Given that this was COT2—conducted at the midpoint of the term—our focus was on equipping club leaders with the tools and strategies needed to navigate the challenges typically encountered in the second half of their tenure."
The training agenda featured three key topics: 'Club Succession Planning', 'Conflict Management', and a session I personally conducted, 'Creating Club Culture'. Each topic was designed around real-life case studies to ensure the sessions were not only informative but also interactive and directly applicable to the leaders' current experiences.
One of the highlights of the day was the Q&A Panel Segment, where participants were encouraged to raise genuine concerns and share their on-the-ground challenges. As a panelist, I had the opportunity to listen firsthand to the issues faced by club leaders in my division. The open and honest dialogue made this segment particularly meaningful, fostering a sense of solidarity and support among attendees.
Despite the wet weather, the event was well-attended, with approximately 120 participants. All four training segments were well-received, with active engagement and participation throughout the day. This joint COT served not only as a vital platform for officer development but also as a testament to the collaborative spirit between Division B and Division E. As officers left with renewed motivation and actionable strategies, the event reinforced our shared commitment to excellence in club leadership and member support.

Eid Connect 2025 - Hari Raya Networking Event
Level: Division / District
Role: Event Organiser
Date: Apr 2025
What began as a simple idea—to organise a Hari Raya event for the Toastmasters community—blossomed into Eid Connect 2025, a joyous evening that brought together over 100 Toastmasters and non-Toastmasters alike in an unforgettable celebration of culture, unity, and heartfelt connection. Planning for this memorable night began as early as November 2024, driven by a passionate team committed to delivering a meaningful and inclusive experience.

We were privileged to welcome Guest-of-Honour, Mdm Rahayu Mahzam, Member of Parliament and Minister of State for Health and Minister of State for Communications and Information, whose presence truly elevated the occasion. Her heartfelt speech reminded us of the beauty of multicultural celebrations and the significance of fostering unity and understanding across diverse communities. Her words left a lasting impression on all who attended.

A key highlight of the evening was the interactive table games, which quickly broke the ice and brought strangers together in a spirit of friendly competition and fun. The laughter that echoed through the room was a testament to the camaraderie that blossomed as the night progressed.

And then came the music—the moment the tunes of “Serumpun” and “Meriah Lain Macam” filled the space, the dance floor came alive. Attendees of all ages joined in, dancing with joyful abandon in a spontaneous celebration of shared heritage. The energy was electric, and for a few moments, the room pulsed with pure, collective happiness.

The festive cheer continued with an exciting round of lucky draws, generously supported by our sponsors. Lucky winners walked away with fantastic prizes, and the rest shared in the excitement and cheer that swept through the crowd. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our sponsors, whose contributions added sparkle to the celebration.

At the heart of it all was an incredible organising team—a dedicated group of individuals who poured their hearts into every detail, from programme design to venue logistics. Their commitment, creativity, and behind-the-scenes coordination ensured the evening flowed seamlessly. Eid Connect 2025 would not have been possible without their unwavering support and tireless efforts.

The event successfully brought together over 100 Toastmasters and more than 30 guests from various Malay/Muslim Organisations (MMOs) and their families. More than just a festive gathering, Eid Connect 2025 was a celebration of what makes us stronger as a community—diversity, shared joy, and meaningful connection. It served as a beautiful reminder that when people come together in the spirit of celebration and respect, magic happens.

As we look back on the laughter, music, and memories made, we also look forward—with hope and excitement—for more shared moments, meaningful conversations, and community-building events in the years to come.

Combined Divisions (B, E, S) Achievers' Day 2025
Level: Cross-Division
Role: Event Organiser & Advisor
Date: May 2025
For the first and only time ever, Division E is collaborating with Division B and Division S to host our Combined Division Achievers' Day 2025 on 26th May 2025. As this will be Division E's final event, we have decided to hold this grand celebration at the Singapore Recreation Club’s (SRC) Ballroom.
It will be a special night where awards and recognition will be bestowed upon outstanding Toastmasters and clubs within the respective divisions. I am currently leading the event alongside two of my fellow Division Directors, with one of my Area Directors serving as the Organising Chair. We are expecting around 220 attendees for the evening, and it promises to be a night to remember. Preparations are already in full swing, and I’m genuinely looking forward to what will be both a grand celebration and an emotional milestone for me.
Achiever’s Day 2025 was nothing short of magical.
As I stood in the beautifully lit SRC Ballroom, surrounded by the vibrant energy of members from Divisions B, E, and S, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of pride and gratitude. This wasn’t just another event on our calendar — it was a day to honour the heart and soul of our community: our members.
From the start, it was clear that this would be a celebration to remember. The talented live band, Viva, filled the ballroom with music that uplifted our spirits and brought smiles to every face. Their melodies created the perfect harmony to match the purpose of the day — to celebrate the members.
The highlight, for me, was witnessing the genuine joy on everyone’s faces — whether it was during the lucky draws, the laughter that erupted at table games, or the excited anticipation of the table draw. These seemingly simple moments reminded me of the importance of community, connection, and fun.
And let’s not forget the food — delicious, beautifully presented, and shared in the best company imaginable. As we dined together, I heard stories of personal victories, growth journeys, and unexpected breakthroughs — each one a testament to the spirit of resilience and excellence that defines our divisions.
As Division E Director, I’ve had the honour of seeing the incredible work our members put in throughout the year. That day was about recognising those efforts — the speeches crafted late into the night, the mentoring sessions that ran longer than planned, the contests, the meetings, the quiet courage it takes to stand up and speak.
To every member of Divisions B, E, and S — thank you.
Thank you for showing up, for striving, for growing, and for inspiring others along the way. Achiever’s Day was a celebration of all that you are and all that we can be when we support one another.
Here’s to great food, great music, and even greater company — and to many more milestones ahead.
